Meanwhile, the Hurufis, taking over provisions and spreading propaganda in the capital, face a new challenge as Mehmed is determined to protect his state from corrupt beliefs. Mara, seeking to undermine Byzantium through Hala Sultan, gains Mehmed's permission for her plan. Konstantinos, upon learning from his mother Helena why the castle was lost, plans to issue a harsh punishment to set an example.
